Food Pantry 

Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. We are especially looking for assistance from 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. to unload pallets of food from our community partner deliveries, pre-pack bags/boxes of food staples, stock pantry shelves, clean, and perform general customer service needs for each of our families. Individuals must be able to carry client’s orders from the building to their cars from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., so as to limit exposure both to you and our clients.  Duties dictate that volunteers be able to lift 40 pounds and perform bending and up and down movement repeatedly.

Community Missions strictly follows current Covid-19 mandates that require daily sign-ins, temperature checks, answering of pandemic questions, and the wearing of masks continuously while on our campus.

The World Reform Project is currently seeking volunteers who are willing and able to participate in a litter cleanup event in your area!

During these frigid days it is hard to imagine that spring will soon be here!  As the weather changes there will be more volunteer opportunities posted.  The Hull Family Home & Farmstead will need all hands on deck for winter clean up both inside and outside the historic home.  We so look forward to meeting new volunteers from our community and we welcome back those who have volunteered before.  Please stay tuned for new postings! 

Food pickup needed on saturdays with a pickup truck (no cap) to help people in Williamsville and Clarence who are hungry.  We need you for about an hour.  Every Saturday at 6:45am. The pickup is 1/2 mile from the food pantry. The weeks you are going on vacation or out of town we would need you to let us know in advance.  

You would need to sign in for the pickup and load what the receiver has set aside for the pantry and bring it back to the pantry to unload.  

With COVID-19, Every Bottom Covered's needs have increased.  We are seeing more families who have been displaced by the pandemic and our volunteer support was affected as it decreased due to the lockdown.  As our services are essential, we never stopped providing them to the community and we have a backlog of paperwork and intake that has occurred.  We could use your help getting back on track!

Distribution of food that maintains social distancing guidelines occurs through a no contact drive-thru system.  This is a fast paced outdoor physical activity. All volunteers must be able to stand for 2-3 hours, lift bags of groceries 10-20 lbs, and don't mind working outside in Buffalo's every changing weather.       

Our volunteers have been working this drive-thru system since COVID began in March and we sure could use a few extra hands alongside of us on a temporary or permanent basis.   

Nightly cleaning and sanitizing of the food pantry equipment and work areas along with required masks, social distancing, and hand sanitation stations have been implemented.

This internship opportunity is for students who are interested in learning the fundamentals of the nonprofit workforce. You would be working closely with the CEO, David Swarts and assisting him with organizing necessary dossiers for our expansion and capitol campaign project. Suggested majors include but are not limited to Communications, Public Relations, non-profit etc.

This Internship is designed to give college students a well-rounded experience working for one of the top cultural destinations in Western New York. This internship includes the opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of the Botanical Gardens and the local non-profit cultural community.

Requirements:

Organizational skills, Computer literacy in Microsoft programs, and Microsoft Excel.

Niagara County has a need for more capacity in street outreach: directly engaging those who are experiencing unsheltered homelessness or homelessness in facilities that lack case management such as DSS-paid hotels or motels. Volunteers will collaborate with Joanne Lorenzo of the Magdalene Project and Will Marcy of Kenmore Alliance Church.

Niagara Area Habitat for Humanity needs a new website. We are looking for individuals that have web-design experience. Looking for a design that is user friendly. 

Senior Companions are volunteers age 55 years or older from Erie County who meet income eligibility requirements. They serve frail older adults, adults with disabilities and those with terminal illnesses. Senior Companions are supervised by the professional staff of People Inc. and other collaborating agencies. All Senior Companions receive 20 hours of pre-service orientation, as well as 2.5 hours of in-service training monthly. Senior Companions earn a tax-free hourly stipend plus travel and meal reimbursement.

Wild Spirit is a 501(c)3 organization. We are always looking for help raising money to fund our educational programs. Our Executive Director is a volunteer and thus doesn't have the extra time to write grants.

Fostering highly increases an animal’s chance of getting adopted. Animals in foster care tend to be better socialized, better adjusted to living as a pet. It also helps potential adopters get to see what a great personality the animal has in a home setting.

Some animals are not ready to be adopted immediately. In addition to needing extra love and care, they have to learn to trust people and to live in a human environment. Foster parents help these animals by providing a temporary home until the animal is ready for adoption.

You feel good, your shelter or rescue group helps more animals, and your foster pet is happy, healthy, and well-socialized. Talk about win-win-win!

Global African Village is a small, all-volunteer nonprofit doing humanitarian work in rural Uganda.

Help us connect with high school and college students, clubs, and groups needing to complete service hours. 

We have no office or staff; just three of us run Global African Village outside our full-time jobs in other fields.  This means that our time to research and make phone calls is rather limited. 

This volunteer opportunity involves researching and making outreach phone calls. You can do as much or as little as you'd like; we welcome any and all help with this task.

Global African Village is a small, all-volunteer nonprofit doing humanitarian work with the impoverished Bagishu people of rural Uganda.  We need volunteers to help us connect with WNY businesses who would like to partner with to do in-office fundraisers such as Loose Change Day or Dress Down Day.  We are also open to additional ideas.

We have no office or staff.  Just three of us run Global African Village outside our full-time jobs in other fields, so our ability to do research and make daytime phone calls is limited.

You can devote as much or as little time to this volunteer opportunity as you'd like.  Any contacts you can make with area businesses willing to partner with us for a fundraiser would be most welcome.

THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION 

Newborns in Need of WNY provides essential baby items to ill and impoverished newborns in our area.  We are a national charity that is run entirely on donations and provide everything to the families free of charge.  We also are completely volunteer based.

We are in need of someone to assist with advertising, marketing and running fundraisers.  We gave been a chapter in the WNY area for 6 years and hold our meetings in Niagara county, in September we are expanding to Erie county.  We provide the care packages and items to hospitals and family care centers in both counties.  I am looking for someone to help me with getting more donations, monetarily and donated items.  Also to help with gaining more volunteers to help grow our chapter. 

Translator needed for occasional written document translations from both Spanish to English and English to Spanish. Documents are typically short to medium length (1-3 pages). The documents are typically time sensitive and we request that they can be translated and returned to us within 12 to 24 hours. You will be translating social and environmental justice related information that is associated with our organization and many other global organizations and your words will be published for a global audience. Very good resume building activity. We typically ask for translations one to three times a month unless we are doing a specific media campaign and then it can be more.

Fluent Spanish and English a must. 

Help for Caregivers: volunteers needed

We are looking for energetic, compassionate individuals to provide assistance to caregivers for people living with dementia. There are numerous ways to become involved; we will work with you to find the opportunity that best fits your interests and talents. 

Caregivers often neglect themselves and sacrifice their own health and happiness; we want to ensure that caregivers are cared for and thrive so that they can continue to provide the best care to their loved ones.

Volunteer opportunities include, but are certainly not limited to: facilitating support groups and workshops, assisting with special events, providing in-home companionship, educational assistance, and office support assistance.

Skilled volunteer to help a growing non-profit to help develop social media campaign, create copy, story lines,  take photos, branding, develop marketing image for nationwide outreach goals. 

We are looking for someone skilled with facebook, twitter, and pintrest to get our messages about abuse prevention out to more people. Familiarity with Google office, hootsuite and wordpress Divi is especially helpful. Knowledge about SEO is helpful. Must be a team player who is willing and able to communicate with a remote "office". But, this is a job you can do from home, essentially on your own schedule.
