Family Promise of WNY's Annual Meat Raffle fundraiser is a night of fun and community, with every person supporting Family Promise of WNY's mission of preventing and ending family homelessness! Volunteer roles include collecting bids for each raffle round, and selling 50/50 tickets. Volunteers can expect a fast-paced and energetic evening, and will receive a complimentary food and drink ticket. This event is great for individual or group volunteers.

Volunteers must be 18+ as they will be handling money.

The event is at Lake Erie Italian Club, located at 3200 South Park Avenue.

Blood Services Transportation Specialists transport blood and blood products throughout the region in a safe and timely manner.

Whether transporting blood from blood drives to the processing facility in West Henrietta, or distributing blood product from West Henrietta to area hospitals, this role is essential to making life-saving blood product readily available! Non-driving position of Transportation Navigator is also available, making this a great dual role for couples!

We are in need of a driver for Thursday mornings every week or drivers during the afternoon any day of the week!

Our services include vital transportation to medical and other places necessary to age in place gracefully. Interactions with our volunteers – who often become friends – also provide a crucial social touch. The other component of our services includes the social programming necessary to stave off the social isolation that often affects an older population and leads to poor health outcomes.

Formed in 1859, Concordia Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Western New York and one of only 4 that still remain in the City of Buffalo. The historic cemetery is listed on both the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places and its buildings are designated Buffalo Landmarks.        

Encompassing 15 acres, the cemetery is the final resting place for thousands of early residents of Buffalo, including over 500 war veterans. There are over 21,000 people of all ethnic backgrounds, cultures and religions reflecting this area's vast diversity at rest here.

 Staffed entirely by volunteers, this historic site was saved from abandonment in 2003.

We are in the process of developing our events for the year and planning a promotional campaign for the historic cemetery. In addition to what will be happening this season at Concordia, we were also invited to serve on a committee reporting to the Erie County Historical Commission and tasked with creating events in honor of the country's semiquincentennial, and so we have created a county-wide project that is currently awaiting approval. Once approved, we will need to begin its promotion.

We would like the intern/s to research and develop stories to be used in social media and on tours, write press releases and promotional materials, help with videos and events and help develop a manual for volunteers joining our team. 

What the interns will get: exposure to a wide range of media, free access to webcasts and workshops to develop PR skills, and networking with other nonprofits, local community leaders, government representatives and media professionals.

The cemetery is closed for the winter so our meetings are currently being held on Zoom.

Lockport CARES operates the only emergency homeless shelter serving Eastern Niagara County. Behind every stable shelter operation is strong administrative support that ensures accuracy, organization, and responsible stewardship.

We are seeking detail-oriented volunteers to assist with office and administrative tasks that help keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Administrative Support Volunteers may assist with:

As a Disaster Action Team Volunteer, you will play a vital role in providing immediate assistance, comfort, and support to individuals and families experiencing a crisis, particularly house fires!

Disaster Action Teams respond within two hours to the scene of a house fire, meeting the immediate basic needs of those affected and beginning recovery casework.
    
Volunteers must be able to provide empathetic support to individuals experiencing distress and uncertainty through challenging times, present strong verbal communication skills, willingness to work collaboratively and be dependable in responding to disasters calls and fulfilling assigned responsibilities.

We are stronger together when we prepare ourselves on how to respond. More than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside a hospital each year. Help us share the word and educate others on how to respond.

Learn how to deliver lifesaving CPR care without rescue breaths and be prepared. It’s easy to learn and YOU can increase the chance of someone surviving a cardiac emergency. When you immediately provide Hands-Only CPR, YOU can increase the chance of survival.

Training is FREE and you'll learn how to teach this Red Cross 30-minute class to the larger community. 

*Current certification in Adult CPR/AED (or higher) is recommended, but not required. Will provide necessary training*

Position Summary
Support the Regional Disaster Cycle Services team by assisting with day-to-day operations in a Red Cross shelter before, during, and/or after a disaster. This in-person role helps ensure individuals and families feel safe, supported, and informed during emergencies.

Graycliff’s guided tour program is led by a group of enthusiastic volunteer Docents who uniquely interpret our historic site. Our docents lead publicly available tours, as well as group, school, and specialty tours. Graycliff Docents present our lakeside property to visitors, animating the many stories of this very special place. Volunteering in this capacity is an excellent opportunity to learn all about Frank Lloyd Wright, Ellen Biddle Shipman, the Martin family, and the specific context of Graycliff. You’ll perfect skills you already have, while developing new ones, and join a community of talented and passionate individuals.

Graycliff offers in-person docent training classes that will instill confidence in you to lead a tour at Graycliff with knowledge of the architecture and history. The WSA is having a national convention in Buffalo, NY, from 7-11 July 2026 at the Buffalo Convention Center. We provide informational/educational sessions for parents/caregivers, while individuals with WS of all ages participate in programming with the help of volunteers.  Volunteers can work with an age group of their choice, from infants/toddlers, teens, and adults with WS. Half-day, full-day, and full-week shifts available.

Help Plan Buffalo Audubon at Beaver Meadow's 2nd Annual SpringFest

We are currently recruiting committee members to help with our new SpringFest at Beaver Meadow fundraising event! The committee is responsible for planning and executing a successful event through volunteerism and community engagement.

SpringFest is scheduled for Saturday, June 6th and will include hourly themed hikes, live music, ambassador animal presentations, raffles, refreshments, children's activities, and more!

In April 2026, we will be selling fragrant, locally-made soy candles for $12 each.  Proceeds from this fundraiser will support our projects in rural Uganda.  We need several volunteers to help us sell candles in April.  Candles will be delivered in early May, in time for Mother's Day.  

The International Institute of Buffalo is looking for volunteers to help New Americans practice English in our Conversation Club program! In this activity, volunteers are given a guide to work with recently arrived immigrants and refugees to help them develop their English language skills in a relaxed, casual environment. No teaching experience is required!

WNY Leveling the Playing Field has opened our doors and we are working to fill our warehouse with used and excess sports equipment so we can begin distributing it to kids in need by Spring 2024!

Collection drives are the most impactful way to help LPF get the gear we need to support local kids in need. Essentially, volunteer collectors tap into their network of classmates, friends, teammates, neighbors, etc. to collect any unused/extra gear. Donations are then transported to our warehouse, with an optional volunteer session to inventory and sort your own collections! You can register yourself for a collection drive here.

Fundraising is an essential part of sustaining the non profit sector but is also a great way for people to support our work if they don't have any equipment items to donate. The Community Services Support Foundation secures financial resources and manages funds that support organizations, activities, and individuals that provide and improve services for individuals of all abilities in Western New York. The Foundation accepts and administers gifts, donations, bequests, and grants on behalf of Community Services for Every1.

We offer opportunities for donors to participate in the pursuit of service excellence, new services and new approaches that improve the quality of life of individuals of all abilities.

The Community Services Support Foundation came into being in the spring of 2011 as the first formal foray of Community Services for Every1 into a sustained fundraising initiative. The Community Services Support Foundation, Inc. is incorporated as a New York State not-for-profit corporation and has received its 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service. The Foundation, while independent from Community Services for Every1, has been developed to address the gap in services experienced by agencies serving people with developmental disabilities in New York state.

Since its founding, the Board has made a significant impact on hundreds of individuals supported by the agency and beyond. Over the last ten years alone, they have allocated $132,000 toward Mini-Grants and $75,000 toward capital growth, contributing to new developments. These include the Jefferson Career Exploration Center, the Apartments at the Lyceum—supportive affordable housing and a hub for habilitative and vocational services—and an upcoming project, The Nest, which will serve as both supportive housing and a vocational services hub in Niagara Falls.

West Side Community Services is looking for volunteers for their food distribution site, Provisions 139. Volunteers help unpack, organize, and shelve inventory; assist community members as they shop for items; and assist with customer registration.

Provisions 139 is set up market-style and allows community members to feel confident and excited while "shopping" for their groceries! We are currently seeking volunteers for the following shifts:

Thursdays - 4:45-7:15 p.m.

We're looking for people to help us connect the public to nature! You will assist with community-based education programs and with on-site programming at Beaver Meadow Nature Preserve. Training is provided.

PROGRAM ASSISTANT VOLUNTEER

Lighthouse Guild is the leading not-for-profit healthcare organization dedicated to addressing and preventing vision loss.  Our mission is to provide exceptional services that inspire people who are visually impaired to attain their goals.  With Lighthouse Guild, people who are at risk for, or affected by, vision loss have access to all the resources necessary to lead full, independent, and productive lives. We provide services, research and education, and advocate to help people with low vision and blindness. Our vision is a world in which no person is limited by their visual capacity.

SUMMARY:  The Adult Day Health Care Program (GuildCare), which provides healthcare and recreation for multicultural seniors with vision loss, multiple developmental disabilities, and chronic medical conditions, is looking for a volunteer to support all aspects of the general operations of this Program.

LOCATION: 1170 Main St, Buffalo, NY, 14209.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the program director or designee the program assistant will:

1.   Greet clients and direct them to daily activities.

2.   Serve as a human guide/escort within the building and on field trips when necessary.

3.   Assist with daily recreational programs as needed.

4.   Help maintain an orderly and welcoming place for clients.

5.   Assist with food preparation and service (breakfast, lunch).

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Excellent verbal communication skills, as well as customer service skills, required.

2.   Must be comfortable working with people who are visually impaired and developmentally disabled.

3.   Must be mature, reliable, courteous, have good judgment and be professional.

4.   The ability to understand and follow instructions/directions is required.

5.   Must be organized and able to work in an environment with priority changes.

6.   Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team.

7.   Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

DETAILS OF SERVICE OPPORTUNITY:This is an on-going opportunity that begins upon approval by staff members. Candidates must be available Monday-Friday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, at least one day per week, four or five hours per day. A health form and proof of immunizations must be completed by physician. SUMMARY: The Adult Day Health Care Program (GuildCare) provides healthcare and recreation for seniors with vision loss, multiple developmental disabilities and chronic medical conditions. A volunteer is needed to serve as a Discussion Group Leader and lead seniors in intellectually stimulating or thought-provoking group conversations.

LOCATION: 1170 Main St, Buffalo, NY, 14209

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the program director or designee the Discussion Group Leader will:

1.   Research various topics for discussion and preparing necessary tools from various media to support the discussion, i.e., current events, sports, entertainment, etc.

2.   Facilitate discussions that encourage thinking, understanding, learning and remembering.

3.   Encourage discussion and participation from all participants within group.

4.   Create a safe environment for communication.

5.   Be willing to assist by escorting clients to and from sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Must be engaging, personable, kind and dependable.

2.   Must be able to communicate respect for and acceptance of clients and their feelings.

3.   Ability to encourage a nonjudgmental collaborative relationship.

4.   Prior experience facilitating discussion groups preferred but not required.

5.   Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

GUILDCARE HEALTH AND WELLNESS INSTRUCTOR

1.   Develop and implement inter-disciplinary health and wellness programming at the Adult Day Health Care program.

2.   Coordinate group health-related workshops, wellness lectures and organize healthy activities.

3.   Otherwise conduct activities that promote, maintain, and improve client’s health and wellness. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Ability to integrate wellness initiatives in disabled and blind social environment.

2.   Experience implementing wellness activities and the ability to keep seniors inspired.

3.   Degree in health education/promotion, public health, community health or a related field and/or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) designation required.

4.   Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

MUSIC INSTRUCTOR

The Music Therapy program exists to increase client’s level of physical, mental, and social/emotional functioning.  The Music Instructor will facilitate the music sessions and assist clients as they use music to support whole person well-being.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the program director or designee the Music Instructor will:

1.   Use music to help clients address social, emotional and/or physical difficulties.

2.   Be able to create a shared musical experience.

3.   Encourage client’s participation in sessions and support them with validation. 

4.   Engage clients with hand-held instruments, sing-along, etc.

5.   Plan, set up, facilitate, and break down musical workshops.

6.   Monitor session effectiveness and report outcomes to program staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Must be an accomplished musician and able to take an active role in sessions by playing, singing, and listening.

2.   Patience, empathy, imagination, tact, openness to new ideas, a sense of humor and creativity required.

3.   Experience as a therapeutic musician or one of the following music therapy certifications (RMT, CMT, ACMT) are preferred but not required.

4.   Must be able to use fundamental facilitation skills to lead sessions.

5.   Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

4.   Demonstrate and teach proper techniques for each activity and provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all participants.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Must be able to relate comfortably to disabled and blind adults/seniors.

2.   Ability to plan and lead recreational activities independently with staff supervision, required.

3.   Course work in recreation, education, sociology or a related field preferred.

2.   Must be comfortable working with people who are visually impaired and developmentally disabled.

3.   Must be mature, reliable, courteous, have good judgment and be professional.
