The WSA is having a national convention in Buffalo, NY, from 7-11 July 2026 at the Buffalo Convention Center. We provide informational/educational sessions for parents/caregivers, while individuals with WS of all ages participate in programming with the help of volunteers.  Volunteers can work with an age group of their choice, from infants/toddlers, teens, and adults with WS. Half-day, full-day, and full-week shifts available.  

Our St. Patrick food pantry provides food and other essential goods to individuals and families facing food insecurity. 

We are currently looking for volunteers to assist in the pantry. Volunteering tasks include greeting costumers , organizing and stocking the shelves, unloading deliveries, bagging food items, and assisting with organization.

In April 2026, we will be selling fragrant, locally-made soy candles for $12 each.  Proceeds from this fundraiser will support our projects in rural Uganda.  We need several volunteers to help us sell candles in April.  Candles will be delivered in early May, in time for Mother's Day.  

WNY Leveling the Playing Field has opened our doors and we are working to fill our warehouse with used and excess sports equipment so we can begin distributing it to kids in need by Spring 2024!

Collection drives are the most impactful way to help LPF get the gear we need to support local kids in need. Essentially, volunteer collectors tap into their network of classmates, friends, teammates, neighbors, etc. to collect any unused/extra gear. Donations are then transported to our warehouse, with an optional volunteer session to inventory and sort your own collections! You can register yourself for a collection drive here.

Fundraising is an essential part of sustaining the non profit sector but is also a great way for people to support our work if they don't have any equipment items to donate. The Community Services Support Foundation secures financial resources and manages funds that support organizations, activities, and individuals that provide and improve services for individuals of all abilities in Western New York. The Foundation accepts and administers gifts, donations, bequests, and grants on behalf of Community Services for Every1.

We offer opportunities for donors to participate in the pursuit of service excellence, new services and new approaches that improve the quality of life of individuals of all abilities.

The Community Services Support Foundation came into being in the spring of 2011 as the first formal foray of Community Services for Every1 into a sustained fundraising initiative. The Community Services Support Foundation, Inc. is incorporated as a New York State not-for-profit corporation and has received its 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service. The Foundation, while independent from Community Services for Every1, has been developed to address the gap in services experienced by agencies serving people with developmental disabilities in New York state.

Since its founding, the Board has made a significant impact on hundreds of individuals supported by the agency and beyond. Over the last ten years alone, they have allocated $132,000 toward Mini-Grants and $75,000 toward capital growth, contributing to new developments. These include the Jefferson Career Exploration Center, the Apartments at the Lyceum—supportive affordable housing and a hub for habilitative and vocational services—and an upcoming project, The Nest, which will serve as both supportive housing and a vocational services hub in Niagara Falls.

West Side Community Services is looking for volunteers for their food distribution site, Provisions 139. Volunteers help unpack, organize, and shelve inventory; assist community members as they shop for items; and assist with customer registration.

Provisions 139 is set up market-style and allows community members to feel confident and excited while "shopping" for their groceries! We are currently seeking volunteers for the following shifts:

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Excellent verbal communication skills, as well as customer service skills, required.

3.   Must be mature, reliable, courteous, have good judgment and be professional.

4.   Engage clients with hand-held instruments, sing-along, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Must be an accomplished musician and able to take an active role in sessions by playing, singing, and listening.

2.   Patience, empathy, imagination, tact, openness to new ideas, a sense of humor and creativity required.

3.   Experience as a therapeutic musician or one of the following music therapy certifications (RMT, CMT, ACMT) are preferred but not required.

4.   Must be able to use fundamental facilitation skills to lead sessions.

Position Overview:
WHJESP is seeking a passionate and proactive Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator to support our mission of providing educational and sports programming to youth across our community. This volunteer will help drive fundraising initiatives, support donor engagement, and assist with special event campaigns and sponsorship outreach. Volunteer help wanted at Concordia Cemetery

We are looking for community volunteers to assist with grounds maintenance at Historic Concordia Cemetery, a sacred and historic site founded in 1859 in Buffalo's East Side.

Help is needed with: mowing and trimming around headstones, light gardening and flower care, watering newly planted areas and keeping pathways clean and inviting.  Volunteers work on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.  Whatever your interest or skills, we need your help in preserving this 15-acre historic site.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who loves working outdoors and giving back to the community. 

Supervisor: Care Manager Supervisor or Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Hybrid (in-office or remote)

Commitment: 1-2 days per week | 2-4 hours per shift

The Volunteer Client Wellness Caller will support Care Managers by conducting regular monthly check-in calls with refugee and immigrant clients to assess general well-being, identify any needs, and provide updates to assigned Care Managers. This role helps ensure clients feel connected, supported, and are receiving appropriate services. Volunteers may also conduct limited in-person wellness checks from a front door or porch when necessary, in coordination with the RISE Buffalo Care Team.

Client Outreach:

Call assigned clients monthly to check on overall well-being.

Use phone or video calls; in-person front door visits may be coordinated as needed.

Utilize language interpretation services (Language Line) as required for non-English speaking clients.

Assessment and Reporting:

Ask clients standardized wellness questions, including:

How they are feeling physically and emotionally.

If they need any additional support from their Care Manager.

If they have changes in health, housing, or employment.

If they have questions about their services or supports.

Document notes from calls using provided forms or electronic platforms.

Report urgent concerns or needs to the client’s assigned Care Manager immediately.

Confidentiality and Boundaries:

Maintain strict client confidentiality.

Conduct any in-person visits at the front door or porch only—do not enter homes.

Follow all organization safety and privacy guidelines.

Communication:

Maintain clear, professional, and compassionate communication with clients.

Participate in briefings or debriefings with supervisors as needed.

Training:

Complete training on organization procedures, confidentiality, use of interpretation services, and wellness check protocols.

Teamwork:

Collaborate with other volunteers and staff members.

Provide feedback or suggestions for improving the wellness call process.

Qualifications:

Comfortable communicating via phone or video calls.

Leveling the Playing Field is a nonprofit that gets kids from under-resourced communities involved in youth sports through the collection and distribution of gently used or extra sporting equipment.

Our Buffalo warehouse has recently opened- and setting up the warehouse to store all incoming donations is the top priority. Volunteers will also help to maintain warehouse operations, sort incoming sporting donations, and assist with other tasks at the warehouse.

Work one on one with our amazing dancers once a week this summer.

April is National Volunteer Month, so there is no better way to celebrate than by making a difference for aquatic life! Join our team of enthusiastic volunteers and docents to inspire our visitors to connect with species near and far.

The Rural Outreach Center sits on more than 7 acres.  We are always in need of ground clean up, raking & tending for beds, etc.  

Little Portion Friary is in need of volunteers 7 days a week from 9 am-1pm, 1pm-6pm, and 6pm-10pm. We are also in need of volunteer cooks to prepare and serve dinner for our guests each day (dinner served at 5:30 pm). Group opportunities available.

The Service Collaborative continues its successful initiative in addressing the extreme level of child poverty through the Beds for Buffalo project. The project provides the basic human need of child sized beds for families in need. The Beds for Buffalo project needs your help building 300 handcrafted, twin beds.

Volunteers will participate in the project and assist with the milling, sanding, painting and/or assembly of beds. All volunteers will be trained on these tasks and supervised by volunteer leaders.

The project will take place at The Foundry (298 Northampton St, Buffalo, NY 14208) on dates and times listed below. TSC will provide the proper instruction, safety review and supervision to support the project. All volunteer projects will take place inside the woodshop and outside, under a covered patio (normal operations for all projects in the spring/summer/fall). All personal safety devices (goggles and ear protection), tools and equipment required for the project will be provided. TSC encourages all volunteers to dress accordingly. No loose clothing or open toe shoes to ensure safety in woodworking and manufacturing environment. All volunteers must be 18+ years of age and older.

Kenton Meals on Wheels (KTMOW) Board Member Job Description

Legal Responsibilities:

Duty of Care:                     Exercise reasonable care in decision-making as a steward of KTMOW

Duty of Loyalty:                Give undivided allegiance when making decisions on behalf of KTMOW. Never use information obtained for personal gain.

Duty of Obedience:        Faithful to KTMOW’s mission, vision and values. Operate according to the organizations governing bylaws.

Individual Responsibilities:

Time:

The board is obligated by our By-Laws to meet at least six times during the year. When full board meetings occur, they will be on the second Monday of the month, typically 6-7:30pm. The actual meeting frequency is adjusted based on what needs to be discussed. In the recent past, the full board has met about ten times/year. Board members are expected to attend meetings as scheduled. If unable to attend, notification to the secretary is required prior to the meeting and the status will be recorded as excused. According to the By-Laws, board members with three consecutive missed meetings without reasonable cause will be asked to resign.

The standard term for a board member is three years. Board members can serve two terms consecutively, after which there must be at least a one-year gap before rejoining the board. This requirement is intended to prevent any single board member from having too much influence on the composition and direction of the board.  Although there is no requirement to do so, nearly every board member in the recent past has served two terms. Near the end of the first term, the board member is contacted by someone from Board Development (see subcommittee description below) to inquire about the board member’s interest in serving a second term.   If that answer is “yes”, a vote is held among the other board members to approve a second term.

In addition to attendance at the full board meetings, board members are expected to join one of the subcommittees. The subcommittee choice will be based on a balance of the board member’s interests and abilities and the staffing needs of the subcommittees. As shown below, there are three standing subcommittees. As of this writing, there are five board members on each subcommittee. These subcommittees have their own meetings, typically occurring 6-8 times/year.

*All board members should strive to support fundraising events to the extent possible for their schedule and other commitments.  Examples of this support include tasks such as staffing check-in tables during a golf tournament or selling tickets to an event such as a meat raffle.

As part of the effort to make our “live” meeting time for the full board more efficient or when there’s a need to address an issue before the next board meeting, there are occasions when board business will be conducted over email.  While there are exceptions, a response time within one week is normally requested. Board members need to respond to these requests in a timely manner.

Starting in 2021, incoming board members will be expected to complete a six-part online Certificate of Nonprofit Board Education or produce documentation of similar training (e.g., through United Way, etc.) within six months of the start of their term. In addition, board members are also encouraged, but not required, to volunteer in the KTMOW kitchen and/or one of the delivery teams.   This can be done as an individual event or as part of a work-related activity such as a United Way “Day of Caring”.  Whether a “one time” event or ongoing, the experience of seeing the inner workings of KTMOW and personally experiencing the impact we have on our clients is powerful and lasting.

Talent

The nature of the work on the KTMOW board is such that every board member’s perspective is needed to help make informed, appropriate decisions based on the available information. At a fundamental level, part of the “talent” expected of each board member is sharing their life experience as it relates to whatever decision or direction is being discussed by the board. Beyond this, there are certain skills sets that we strive to maintain among board members such as financial acumen, experience with elder care issues, and legal knowledge.  These skill sets are maintained through targeted recruiting of new board members as experienced board members complete their term(s).

In addition to the above, there is an ongoing need for a group of board members to serve in various leadership roles for the KTMOW Board. The formal leadership roles include the following:

Roles 1, 2 & 3 above go through a formal nomination and board approval process near the end of each calendar year.   The subcommittee chair and vice-chair roles are typically filled through appointment by the president following discussion with the incumbent subcommittee leader and other board members as appropriate.

Treasure

The subject of money tends to be sensitive subject, so it’s important for potential new and existing board members to understand this expectation:  please give what you can, when you can, if you can to support KTMOW.  There is no minimum donation requested or required of a KTMOW Board member. It’s important to note that we don’t keep metrics on which board member does what or when among these categories. We simply ask that you help to the best of your ability, availability, and current circumstances to meet the needs of the KTMOW board and organization.

You will likely be approached 2-3 per year about providing things like gift baskets or wine (typically valued at about $25) to be used as raffle prizes for different events. If your circumstances allow for you to donate, please do. If you can’t, don’t worry about it as we work with what is available.

Board members are expected to be ambassadors and “friend-raisers” for KTMOW at every opportunity, whether it is forwarding information about fundraisers through social media; posting or distributing fliers at work or in their neighborhoods/ service groups, etc.; speaking as requested about supporting KTMOW; writing letters to the editors of local newspapers about the value of KTMOW. Other “do it if you can” opportunities include making direct contributions triggered by the Spring Newsletter, the Annual Fund letter, buying tickets for fundraising events, designating KTMOW as a target charity for United Way contributions at work, and designating KTMOW as a target charity for purchases made through Amazon’s “Smile” program.

We also encourage Board members to pursue grants or donations from their employers if those programs are available, including the using of “matching funds” donations.

Desirable Personal Characteristics:

We are seeking someone that is able to teach jewelry making to senior adults one day a week for one and a half hours. 

A family with a seriously ill or injured child can spend long hours and many days at the hospital. At these times, simple comforts – a toothbrush, a cookie, or a toy to play with – can help to put a smile on their face.

Thanks to our volunteers*, the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart travels through the pediatric floors at John R. Oshei Children’s Hospital, and through the Mother/Baby and NICU units at Sisters of Charity Hospital, offering patients and families complimentary beverages, snacks, and activities while enabling them to remain at their child’s bedside.

We are ALWAYS looking for volunteers to help keep our house in order. Some examples of tasks include: cleaning, painting, organizing, restocking cupboards or fridges, weeding, holiday decorating etc... Basically, chores that would need to be done at any household! 

Additional tasks may include shuttling guests to and from the hospital, running errands in the community, answering the phone/door and other basic office assistant types of tasks. You are welcome to volunteer once or on a regular basis. We are happy to fulfill required service hours as well.

Meal Makers is a volunteer-based program. Meal Makers provide necessary meal ingredients and come to the Ronald McDonald House to prepare a warm meal in our fully-stocked commercial kitchen for the guest families staying there.

After our guest families spend a long day at the hospital, there’s nothing more appreciated than a home-cooked meal. Get together with friends, family, or co-workers to plan a menu and prepare a comforting evening meal for the people staying at the Ronald McDonald House.

Compeer Outreach Team members play a crucial role in expanding our reach and impact within communities across Erie County. As an Outreach Team member, you will be the face of Compeer, representing Compeer at a variety of community events such as wellness fairs, community resource fairs, career fairs, and speaking directly with members of the community to encourage them to get involved with our organization. Outreach Team volunteers support Compeer by spreading awareness of our programs and volunteer opportunities, allowing interested individuals to be able to seek a Friend or to be a Friend to an individual navigating mental health challenges. Outreach Team members attend events as needed.

The International Institute of Buffalo is looking for volunteers to join staff in our Welcome Home Setup Program. The Crisis Services Ambassador attends community outreach events to represent Crisis Services throughout Erie County. The events can be tabling/informational booths, fundraisers for Crisis Services and more! The Ambassador will be able to speak comfortably about the important work of Crisis Services as well as empathetically listen to community members share their stories of working with Crisis Services. Our Ambassadors may serve as the face of Crisis Services to the community.

We offer an extensive training program for our Ambassadors to be ready to be in the community and represent Crisis Services to the public. This training includes basics of Crisis Services programs, suicide prevention skills, basics of domestic and sexual violence and mental health awareness. This training will prepare you to speak comfortably about these topics to community members at public events. You will also have the opportunity to shadow the Community Education and Outreach Coordinator at an event to help you learn the skills of setting up our materials and engaging with the public.

Project M.O.V.E. Buffalo is a program of the City of Buffalo’s Office of the Mayor that aims to serve individuals from historically disenfranchised communities to promote economic success, support and grow technology and educational initiatives to close the inequality gap and fight poverty. The VISTA member will facilitate interdepartmental coordination, community-engaged learning to address identified community needs and identifying and documenting best practices in their respective assigned communities and sharing these resources throughout the city while creating online resources to aid in better coordination and resource allocation for future funds, projects, and workshops. The VISTA Leaders will be housed at the Citizen Services and will play an important role in the retention and performance of the VISTA members in Project MOVE as well as support and help coordinate the longevity of the AmeriCorps VISTA supervisors and Program Manager to assist the other VISTA members in their day-to-day responsibilities.

2-1-1 Ambassadors are needed to promote 2-1-1 to their local communities by various methods of outreach, manning tables at health fairs or community events, and/or attending City of Buffalo Clean Sweeps. Ambassadors will be provided with training & materials needed for outreach. 

The Senior Companion Program matches individuals age 55 or older with seniors in need of support services or companionship throughout Niagara County. Senior Companions provide friendship to their clients and assist with daily tasks necessary to maintain independence.

Some examples of activities Senior Companions may assist their clients with are: taking them shopping, transportation to the doctor or hair dresser, paying bills, running errands, meal preparation, medication reminders, social activities and a variety of other tasks. Senior Companions also provide respite and a personal break from the role of caregivers to family members who care for an elderly person in their home.

Senior Companions usually visit their clients between 2 and 5 hours each week, always on the same day and during the same hours.

Benefits:
Senior Companions receive a small, tax-free stipend if income eligibility requirements are met. This stipend is not considered income for any purpose. Senior Companions also receive pre-service and ongoing training, mileage reimbursement, and supplemental insurance coverage while they are serving.

Hello, kind soul! Here at Against All Oddz Animal Alliance INC., we are looking for folks who have a passion to bring order and charm to their environment and don't mind getting a little bit of dog-fur on their clothes (or potentially some slobbery kisses). Located in rural Darien Center, only minutes from Darien Lake Amusement Park, we are a mixed rescue/sanctuary for dogs caught up in the legal system with nowhere to go. We have 47-acres of pristine rolling pastures, lush forests, and even a federally-protected wetlands on the edge of our property!

Each of our 12 dogs either lives in their own cabin (with A/Cs, heaters, electric, all the amenities to make them comfortable) with the ability to enter and exit their own personal fenced-in run whenever they please! Our more social dogs live in our "Hotel" facility that is the central hub for most supplies and where volunteers hang out the most. Each of these dogs have their own private kennel space, and connected runs that allow them to run and play with each other as much as they want! It's quite adorable to watch. 

That being said, it takes a lot of hands to keep all 6 cabins and Hotel in tip-top shape (especially in the dreaded mud season that is spring) to ensure our furry residents stay healthy and bright, especially the ones who will be living here their entire lives. While we ask all volunteers to participate in housekeeping, we understand there are people out there who specifically do not want to handle the dogs, but still want to help out how they can. They are always our biggest heroes because of the harmony they bring to our rescue through cleaning and organizing! It can be very busy here, so with a little bit of your TLC, you can help enrich not just a dog's quality of life here, but also the other staff and volunteers running around nonstop!

Canopy of Neighbors is looking for Board members to help us serve the elder community in Buffalo.

Canopy of Neighbors is a non-profit organization creating new pathways to aging well and aging independently in community. Part of the national "village" movement, Canopy services a socioeconomically and culturally diverse population of seniors who need non-medical and non-social service supports to remain in their homes. Our volunteers drive seniors to crucial medical and social appointments, engage in friendly visits, volunteer help and socialization. We also run a robust programming schedule, which includes transportation. Our efforts are crucial to mitigating the negative effects of social isolation and allows seniors to remain in their communities and maintain positive mental and physical health outcomes.

Volunteers are needed to assist with FeedMore WNY's Angel Card program! Throughout the year we often distribute greeting cards, that community members have made and donated, to our home delivered meal clients. It is a way to lift our clients' spirits and put a smile on their face! This project can be done remotely, and cards can be handmade, created on a computer or even store bought and  then decorated further. We just require that none of the cards are dated, that they do not have any offensive language on them and that they are not addressed to anyone specific.  Cards can be for any holiday or general purpose, but we do ask that cards are not specific to any particular religious holiday (i.e. get well soon cards, birthday cards, cards saying: happy fall, or happy holidays, etc.). If providing envelopes with your cards please do not seal them. 

Once completed, cards can either be dropped off (between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday) at 100 James E Casey Drive Buffalo 14206, or mailed.  Cards can also be dropped off on Saturdays (between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.) at 91 Holt Street, Buffalo 14206.

Volunteers are needed to help make companion calls to our homebound neighbors! Companion Calls are opportunities to check in with FeedMore WNY's home-delivered meal clients to ensure they are staying well, and to provide them with a friendly conversation. Many of FeedMore WNY's clients live on their own and are fairly isolated, and these phone calls help to combat that isolation and provide our homebound neighbors with some socialization. 

Volunteers must be 18 or older to participate in this opportunity, and will be required to come into the Holt Street office to make these phone calls. Training will be provided onsite at the beginning of the shift. All volunteer rules and expectations can be accessed here!

As an Admin Support Volunteer Team Member, you will provide office support to the administrative staff of Cornerstone Manor. In this volunteer position you will be maintaining files on the computer, prepare copies, and do some shredding. You will need to have experience with basic computer and office skills. This position is available Monday through Friday 9am to 4pm.

Are you seeking a rewarding volunteer experience? Do you like working with children? Volunteering in the day care and or student homework area will bring great support to the Mission staff and/or provide fun and support to our children of Cornerstone Manor of all ages. Volunteers serving in the Daycare are under the supervision of the Mission staff will assist with the implementation of lessons, stories, and arts & crafts.

Volunteers must submit all necessary required paperwork, pass a background check, and complete fingerprinting. There is no cost to the volunteer for these needs.

This service position is available Monday through Friday. Shifts are flexible.
