SUMMARY:  The Adult Day Health Care Program (GuildCare), which provides healthcare and recreation for multicultural seniors with vision loss, multiple developmental disabilities, and chronic medical conditions, is looking for a volunteer to support all aspects of the general operations of this Program.

LOCATION: 1170 Main St, Buffalo, NY, 14209.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the program director or designee the program assistant will:

1.   Greet clients and direct them to daily activities.

2.   Serve as a human guide/escort within the building and on field trips when necessary.

3.   Assist with daily recreational programs as needed.

4.   Help maintain an orderly and welcoming place for clients.

5.   Assist with food preparation and service (breakfast, lunch).

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Excellent verbal communication skills, as well as customer service skills, required.

2.   Must be comfortable working with people who are visually impaired and developmentally disabled.

3.   Must be mature, reliable, courteous, have good judgment and be professional.

4.   The ability to understand and follow instructions/directions is required.

5.   Must be organized and able to work in an environment with priority changes.

6.   Able to work independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team.

7.   Bilingual Spanish/English preferred but not required.

MUSIC INSTRUCTOR

The Music Therapy program exists to increase client’s level of physical, mental, and social/emotional functioning.  The Music Instructor will facilitate the music sessions and assist clients as they use music to support whole person well-being.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direction of the program director or designee the Music Instructor will:

1.   Use music to help clients address social, emotional and/or physical difficulties.

2.   Be able to create a shared musical experience.

3.   Encourage client’s participation in sessions and support them with validation. 

4.   Engage clients with hand-held instruments, sing-along, etc.

5.   Plan, set up, facilitate, and break down musical workshops.

6.   Monitor session effectiveness and report outcomes to program staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1.   Must be an accomplished musician and able to take an active role in sessions by playing, singing, and listening.

2.   Patience, empathy, imagination, tact, openness to new ideas, a sense of humor and creativity required.

3.   Experience as a therapeutic musician or one of the following music therapy certifications (RMT, CMT, ACMT) are preferred but not required.

4.   Must be able to use fundamental facilitation skills to lead sessions.

We are looking for community volunteers to assist with grounds maintenance at Historic Concordia Cemetery, a sacred and historic site founded in 1859 in Buffalo's East Side.

Supervisor: Care Manager Supervisor or Volunteer Coordinator

Location: Hybrid (in-office or remote)

Commitment: 1-2 days per week | 2-4 hours per shift

The Volunteer Client Wellness Caller will support Care Managers by conducting regular monthly check-in calls with refugee and immigrant clients to assess general well-being, identify any needs, and provide updates to assigned Care Managers. This role helps ensure clients feel connected, supported, and are receiving appropriate services. Volunteers may also conduct limited in-person wellness checks from a front door or porch when necessary, in coordination with the RISE Buffalo Care Team.

Client Outreach:

Call assigned clients monthly to check on overall well-being.

Use phone or video calls; in-person front door visits may be coordinated as needed.

Utilize language interpretation services (Language Line) as required for non-English speaking clients.

Assessment and Reporting:

Ask clients standardized wellness questions, including:

How they are feeling physically and emotionally.

If they need any additional support from their Care Manager.

If they have changes in health, housing, or employment.

If they have questions about their services or supports.

Document notes from calls using provided forms or electronic platforms.

Report urgent concerns or needs to the client’s assigned Care Manager immediately.

Confidentiality and Boundaries:

Maintain strict client confidentiality.

Conduct any in-person visits at the front door or porch only—do not enter homes.

Follow all organization safety and privacy guidelines.

Communication:

Maintain clear, professional, and compassionate communication with clients.

Participate in briefings or debriefings with supervisors as needed.

WNY Leveling the Playing Field has opened our doors and we are working to fill our warehouse with used and excess sports equipment so we can begin distributing it to kids in need by Spring 2024!

Collection drives are the most impactful way to help LPF get the gear we need to support local kids in need. Essentially, volunteer collectors tap into their network of classmates, friends, teammates, neighbors, etc. to collect any unused/extra gear. Donations are then transported to our warehouse, with an optional volunteer session to inventory and sort your own collections!

Leveling the Playing Field is a nonprofit that gets kids from under-resourced communities involved in youth sports through the collection and distribution of gently used or extra sporting equipment.

Our Buffalo warehouse has recently opened- and setting up the warehouse to store all incoming donations is the top priority. Volunteers will also help to maintain warehouse operations, sort incoming sporting donations, and assist with other tasks at the warehouse.

Leveling the Playing Field works within the community to collect used/excess sporting equipment so that we can ensure that every kid living in and around Western New York can enjoy the benefits of athletic involvement. Our free donations benefit Title I schools and youth/after-school programs looking to engage their students in the physical & and mental benefits of youth sports participation. 

So clean out your garages and clear the yard of used sporting equipment so that kids who are less fortunate are able to enjoy them! HAVE FUN & GET MOVING! (NO DANCE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED)

Work one on one with our amazing dancers once a week this summer.

Classes run Tuesday and Thursday 4:30-8. Pick a day and time and you'll have so much fun! Volunteers work one on one with dancers helping them learn the steps being taught by the instructor.
No dance experience needed, just a kind heart and patience!

It only takes one hour of your time, once a week to help one of our dancers. Volunteers must be 16 years of age and commit to at least one class a week in July & August. We are also looking for volunteers for September through mid-May which culminates in an Annual Performance (always the Saturday of Mother's Day weekend).

We have high schoolers, college-age students, professionals, and retirees. Such a fun opportunity! You won't regret it. it will be the best part of your week!

The development committee develops and helps secure resources and philanthropic relationships for the long-term financial sustainability of the organization. The development committee is responsible for helping identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward funding sources, including donors and sponsorships, and developing a strategic calendar of fundraising opportunities, including The Tool Library’s annual Gather, Garden + Grow fundraiser. The development committee serves as an anchor for major gift fundraising, primarily solicited by the Board President and Executive Director.

Committee members with non-profit development experience or fundraising insight are encouraged.

The SUNY ATTAIN Lab in Buffalo is a workforce and professional development Computer Lab serving residents in the immediate Western New York community and the larger State of New residents with their professional development and career aspirations.  We are offering a number of learning resources for career exploration to professional certifications from globally recognized industry authorities such as Microsoft, QuickBooks, Adobe, and more.

The internship opportunity at the SUNY ATTAIN Lab in Buffalo, NY is open to college students studying any discipline looking to gain real world experience and an opportunity develop and practice their skills in specific domains. We are looking for students who are interested in serving community and contributing meaningfully to the local community and as far as your reach can extend in NYS. To maximize this opportunity for students, we are open to working collaboratively to identify specific areas of contribution and roles students can perform that can serve both the organization and the student experience. The work can be conducted in-person on site, hybrid, and remote if the right match between skills and needs are appropriately aligned.

You will be directly supervised by ATTAIN Lab Coordinator, Dinash Lal, MPA Mr. Lal is a public sector professional with over 20 years of experience in municipal government, nonprofit/human services, and

NGOs. He currently serves as principal of a boutique consulting firm bridging the interest of both sectors, fostering private public partnerships to enhance community as well as profit.  Recognizing the impact of investing in the arts as an economic development tool, he is advancing an initiative to develop a loan fund for artists in Western New York.

Blood Drive Donor Ambassadors provide excellent customer service and enhance the blood donor experience. Each donor deserves to be welcomed and cared for. You will help to engage with donors to make the donation experience fulfilling and set the stage for a long-term commitment to regular blood donations.
