Who We Are
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier (BBBS) creates and supports one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Since being founded, BBBS has helped over 13,500 local children achieve their full potential by matching them with a local caring, adult mentor, a Big. BBBS’ mentoring program has a positive and measurable impact on a child’s social and academic success. The agency currently provides its mentoring program to children in Erie and Niagara Counties with an office located in Buffalo, NY.
What We Do
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier partners with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community and hold ourselves accountable for each child in our program achieving:
- Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships,
- Avoidance of risky behaviors,
- Educational success.
We provide safe and high-quality one-to-one mentoring to children ages 6 - 16 by matching them with carefully screened and trained volunteer mentors. Each mentoring match is supported by an agency staff member that provides guidance, support and fun and creative activity pathways that coincide with the child's educational and personal interests including STEM, Workforce Development, Financial Literacy, Literacy, Healthy Living, Arts & Culture and Community Engagement.
