Who We Are
Compass House was founded in 1972 by Trinity Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese, as well as the Junior League and several other foundations. The Buffalo Division for Youth and the Erie County Youth Board quickly joined to support the program. In 1974, Compass House incorporated as a private, not-for-profit corporation, independent of the Church. Since then, funding levels have progressively increased enabling the growth of services. Compass House is regulated through the New York State Division for Youth.
What We Do
Our mission is to provide runaway, homeless and street youth with safe shelter and services, through a voluntary and mutually agreed-upon process, in an environment that supports dignity, respect and self-reliance. Compass House has an Emergency Shelter , a Resource Center, Rapid Re-Housing Program and a Transitional Living Program to support youth ages 12-24.
